About PARA: The Professional Association of Resident Physicians of Alberta (PARA) is dedicated to providing robust representation for physicians completing further training in a residency program. PARA advocates excellence in education and patient care while striving to achieve optimal working conditions and personal well-being for all its members.

Position Overview: The Specialist, Creative Content will play a pivotal role in enhancing PARA’s online presence, while supporting its broader communications strategy. This position is ideal for new graduates or professionals with a couple of years of experience who are eager to build their careers in a creative and impactful role. The position will be responsible for creating and managing engaging content across all social media platforms, including graphics, videos and other visual materials. In addition to monitoring engagement metrics and developing strategic campaigns, the role will involve coordinating internal and external communications, such as drafting and designing newsletters, member emails and other publications. The ideal candidate will possess strong graphic design skills, an eye for aesthetics and a deep understanding of visual storytelling. They should be a creative thinker with excellent writing and editing abilities, committed to advancing PARA’s goals through cohesive and visually appealing communication.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media Content Creation:

  • Develop and execute a content strategy that drives engagement and aligns with PARA’s goals
  • Create, curate and schedule high-quality content, including graphics, videos and written posts, across all social media platforms
  • Maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely posting
  • Collaborate with PARA departments to integrate social media content into broader campaigns

Social Media Strategy Development:

  • Identify and analyze key metrics and KPIs to measure the success of social media campaigns
  • Stay informed about industry trends, tools and best practices to keep PARA’s social media presence innovative and effective
  • Foster relationships with key influencers and partners to amplify PARA’s reach and impact
  • Monitor and engage with the online community, addressing feedback and managing any online issues effectively

Communications Support:

  • Design visually appealing graphics for PARA’s publications, including newsletters, member emails, presentations and the Year in Review
  • Assist in the development and execution of communication strategies and campaigns
  • Create, edit and distribute content for PARA’s website, newsletters and other communication materials
  • Support the planning and coordination of PARA events, including Assembly meetings, Annual General meetings, focus groups and other member engagement activities
  • Ensure all communications reflect PARA’s brand guidelines and values

General:

  • Take an active role in new resident physician orientations and various other events
  • Take direction from the Manager, Communications on all matters pertaining to PARA Communications
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • An undergraduate degree or diploma in Communications, Graphic Design or a related field
  • Strong graphic design skills with a keen eye for aesthetics and visual storytelling
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities
  • A creative thinker with a passion for developing engaging content
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and current trends
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Basic knowledge of analytics tools and the ability to use data to inform content strategies
  • Project management skills
