Resident Physician Agreement

Since shortly after the Arbitration hearing, PARA has been working with the other parties of new Resident Physician Agreement (AHS, the U of A and the U of C) in an effort to implement the non-monetary articles of the Agreement for July.

While there are still items to be finalized – most notably monetary articles that are awaiting the results of arbitration – all parties have agreed to begin using the new Agreement language effective July 1, 2017.

You can view the new draft Agreement by logging into the members’ side of the PARA website** – under “Agreement/Resident Physician Agreement” on the side menu. You will also find an internal document we have prepared that highlights the significant changes in the new Agreement.

(Please note: the Agreement still needs to be formally ratified by PARA, AHS, the U of A and the U of C.)

Please don’t hesitate to contact the PARA office at if you have any questions.

** Log-in details for the members’ side of the PARA website were emailed to all PARA members on July 1st. If you cannot find the log-in details, please contact

If you are a Program Administrator, you can get a copy of the new language from PGME.
